Assassin’s Creed II DLC: Battle of Forli Review

Rating: 7 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

The Battle of Forli is the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed II. This DLC is specifically Memory 12 of the fragmented memories that you could not obtain from before. The DLC starts as soon as you load your game. You will be taken to the loading screen where your friends piece together the fragmented data. Ezio and the gang take a look at the Apple and discuss how it must not fall into the wrong hands. They believe that Forli is the best stronghold for that. When they arrive in Forli you are reintroduced to Caterina Sforza who is now in charge of Forli after having her husband killed. However, the city has been taken siege by the same assassins that helped Caterina; these are the Orsi Brothers. Your job is to retake Forli, eliminate the brothers, and keep the Apple protected.

Mass Effect 2 Review

Rating: 9.5 Out of 10

Mass Effect 2 has arrived and let me be clear that it is everything that you want for a Mass Effect sequel plus more. The introduction sequence alone is totally worth it and draws you in. The game has excellent dialogue and voice action from a list of very popular actors and actresses. The art design and graphics are also to be applauded for very life like aliens that can leave you in awe. They have rid themselves of the inventory system and the bland level designs. You now gather research equipment that improves your weapons and skills and the levels are all designed differently. The leveling system has also been modified to support an easier action packed experience that has a max level of 30 instead of 60. Lastly, the shoot and cover system has also been improved as well as the UI to provide an easier experience. Everything has been improved no matter what the situation is. However, the only problem I really had with this game is the scanning of planets. You scan the planets for the material to upgrade weapons, shields, armor, etc, but the only problem with that is that it is super slow and the planets have big areas to cover. Overall, if you liked the first Mass Effect and you are just interested in a third person shooter then I highly recommend you play this game. It is 2 discs and will guarantee you a lot of play time.

Fallout 3 DLC: Mothership Zeta Review

Rating: 7 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

Mothership Zeta is the final piece of DLC for Fallout 3. You start this DLC off like all of the others, you get a radio transmission. The transmission states that you have to investigate a crashed alien ship. When you reach the ship, a beam of light takes you and the next thing you know, you are on an operating table in an alien vessel. You awake in a jail cell with a cellmate that helps plan an escape with you. You later free more humans on the ship and form a resistance. Your objectives are really straight forward and that is to disable key components of the alien ship and to take command of it to get back home.

This DLC has an interesting new environment to explore with some cool new guns, perks, and achievements to go with it. Also it is very fun to watch the alien heads splatter. However, this DLC focuses on Fallout’s shooting like Operation Anchorage did, contains poor storytelling, and lastly has lame mission objectives. An example being is go to the cryo lab, blow up the reactor. Next, go to the hangar, blow up the reactor, etc. I want to say the only interesting aspect was at the end where you control the alien ship’s laser to attack another alien ship. Overall, this will help you get to 30 but it is just a little better than Operation Anchorage was.

Fallout 3 DLC: Point Lookout Review

Rating: 7 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

The 4th DLC in the Fallout 3 world takes us to Point Lookout, Maryland. Once the DLC is installed, you will receive a radio message of a man with a ferry taking people to Point Lookout. This new area contains a gigantic swamp, a cathedral, a mansion, a boardwalk / Ferris wheel, and a lighthouse among other small locations. You will see smoke coming from the mansion and decide to investigate what is going down. Apparently you run into an all out rivalry between a guy with 2 dogs in a mansion versus a bunch of tribals. The tribals are lead by a Doctor that the mansion owner thought to be dead. You will later infiltrate the tribal ranks and then choose which side to stand on. The DLC itself has new weapons, perks, and new achievements. However, make sure you are above 20 doing this DLC because the enemies are a lot harder than any previous DLC. Overall though, if you want to continue your way to 30 then this would be a great boost for you to work on it.

Dragon Age: Origins – Return to Ostagar DLC Review

Rating: 6 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

Return to Ostagar is the 3rd DLC released for Dragon Age and I have to say that I am fairly disappointed in this one. It was just released today and I beat it in less than an hour. The game is running for 400 MSP and continues the adventures of the Gray Wardens. The quest will start as soon as you download the content. You have heard word that someone has survived the battle at Ostagar and has requested assistance from the Gray Wardens. When you reach this man, you realize he was from King Cailan’s Royal Guard. In a battle with a small lord’s guard, this man dies leaving you the location of a key to Cailan’s chest that remains in Ostagar. You return to the battlefield to see it covered in snow and everything in ruin. You will have to fight the darkspawn to recover what lies in the chest and to eliminate all Darkspawn in the area. Half way through you will run into the King’s body being hung by arrows and later on the Ogre that killed him.

There are new weapons and armor in this DLC as well as some new Codex pages for you to read up on. Once you reach Ostagar, you basically kill every Darkspawn in the area, collect pieces of Cailan’s armor that is carried by elite Darkspawn and finally collect Duncan’s Dagger and Duncan’s Sword. The DLC will not take long at all leaving you with a 20 – 30 minute playthrough and an easy one at that. There is not much added to the story other than recalling past moments on the battlefield. To me I was disappointed and was expecting more. Overall though, if you want to continue the story of Dragon Age before the expansion is released, then go right ahead.

Fallout 3 DLC: Broken Steel Review

Rating: 8.5 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

Fallout 3: Broken Steel is the 3rd DLC in probably the most wanted DLC in the game. A DLC that not only continues the story after the events of the game but also a level cap from 20 to 30. Broken Steel has you waking up from your near death experience continuing to push back The Enclave and end their military force once and for all. You will be going to some new locations like an airfield and a mobile base to a new mountain side bunker. With a new DLC there is also new weapons and perks that are always fun to change some things up. My weapon of choice would probably be the new Tesla Cannon, it packs a punch. Overall the DLC feels very well integrated into the wasteland like it was there all along. You will also have another mission with your friend Liberty Prime and his crazy weaponry. I can say that the trip to 30 will not be a long one with all of the DLC around for Fallout 3. Inevitably in the end of Broken Steel, you will be making a choice that can determine the fate of the entire area. Overall, this was probably one of my favorite DLC for Fallout 3 and with a raised level cap, I am sure you will agree.

Fallout 3 DLC: The Pitt Review

Rating: 7.5 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

Being from Pittsburgh, when I first heard about The Pitt I was hooked on a apocalyptic Pittsburgh. The Pitt is the 2nd DLC for Fallout 3 where you enter the city of Pittsburgh to save the slaves that are in the city. The scenery of the city is fantastic and the DLC contains some interesting plot development. There are some areas where you will be really high up which is different for Fallout 3 to have more vertical areas than flat land. At the start you will become a slave yourself and have to work your way through the ranks to get a meeting with the leader of the bandits running the slave trade. There is a virus going through the city and some parts of the city are more dangerous than others. It is up to you to find the cure and save the slavers but then you will be in a position where you will have to make a choice on whether to side with the slavers or the bandits. The end game will unlock an ammo dispenser where you can trade in one type of ammo for another but this DLC does not add that many new things to the table. You will get a new auto axe and a new infiltrator rifle but other than that, there is not that much new.

Fallout 3 DLC: Operation Anchorage Review

Rating: 6 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

Operation Anchorage is the first DLC for Fallout 3 and it seems to miss a few paces. When you install the add-on you will receive a radio beacon in game to start the Operation Anchorage quest line. A group from the Brotherhood ask you to enter a combat simulator that takes you to Alaska before the nuclear wasteland. The mission is to push back Chinese forces and gain access to a secret technology for the Brotherhood that will only unlock once the simulation is complete. This simulator is a straight up shooter where you have to clear the area of all enemies to proceed to the next mission. These are not the elements that Fallout 3 are known for and seem rather dull in this DLC. There are new achievements for this DLC as well as new weapons, armor, and a new perk if you collect 10 briefcases. In the end you will probably beat it in 3 hours time. There is also a few occasional bugs in the DLC that raises some questions. In the end when you finish, you wake up out of the simulator feeling confused as to why when you get the items, a civil war breaks out among the Brotherhood and you having to basically kill everyone. Overall, if you still haven’t leveled up to 20 or 30 if you have Broken Steel, this would be a good boost for you.

Borderlands DLC: Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot Review

Rating: 7 Out of 10

May Contain Spoilers

Borderlands’ 2nd DLC titled Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot brings a few things to the table but not much. You can get into this area of DLC by using a fast travel station titled The Underdome. When you transport to this area, you will be in a hallway and straight ahead will be the new bank system. The bank system will let you store weapons, mods, upgrades, or anything in game. You start out with 12 slots but the higher level you are, you can check the vendor to buy a bank upgrade to get higher slots. I am only a 45 right now but I can buy a Level 9 Bank Upgrade which is 39 total slots. Unfortunately this upgrade is around 4 million dollars. I would recommend that you level up first before you buy any of those upgrades. If you have the money though and don’t care, buy each level. Back in the hallway you can go down a ramp where you will see a bounty board and the mission Prove Yourself. This mission you must complete 5 rounds in each map that Moxxi throws at you. There are 3 maps total and are scattered on this level. Helburbia, is a suburb, The Gully is a hill with teleporters on the bottom and top of the hill, and the Angelic Ruins, a snowy ruins where cover is your friend.
