Condemned brings some unique things to a video game while still having some old first person shooter formulas. This game has some great hand to hand combat and an excellent presentation for chasing down a serial killer. The atmosphere in the game is very scary and unsettling which is good in this case. However, the level design can get you lost very easily, the combat can get old after a while, and the storyline doesn’t deliver that much. Overall, this is a unique game, and I would try it before you buy it.
Pros:
+ Ferocious first-person hand-to-hand combat looks completely insane
+ Compelling premise puts you on the trail of a deranged serial killer
+ Morbidly unsettling atmosphere (in a good way!)
+ Excellent presentation
Cons:
- Boring level design makes you get lost in hallway after hallway
- Not much depth or variety to the combat after the first few hours
- Storyline teases more than it delivers
