Pokemon Pearl Review

Rating: 8 Out of 10

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are the first Pokemon games to be released for the Nintendo DS and they still stick with that formula that you have come to know in the previous games. This game has a colorful presentation mixing 2D with 3D, an enthusiastic soundtrack, the introduction of online play, over 100 new Pokemon, and an engaging single player story. However, the touch screen controls are underwhelming, the sounds are somewhat recycled from previous games, and there is some accessibility issues with the online. Overall though, if you liked Pokemon in the past then you should like this one just the same.

Pros:

+ Colorful presentation blends 2D and 3D

+ Enthusiastic soundtrack

+ Introduces online play

+ Lengthy, engaging single-player story

+ More than 100 new Pokémon

Cons:

- New touch-screen controls underwhelming

- Online hampered by accessibility issues

- Recycles some graphics and sounds from older Pokémon games
