Tomb Raider Underworld has finally been released and it is what you would expect from a Tomb Raider game. This game has great graphics and some great audio. It also has everything from the previous games and it basically picks up where Tomb Raider: Legend drops off. The environments are mixed with great underwater, underground, and outdoor locations. Lara’s moves have increased slightly and has learned some new tricks here and there, and the puzzles are what we have come to know and love. However, Lara seems a bit sporadic and there is a lot of camera / clipping problems. The story is alright, and brings back an old familiar foe and there isn’t really anything that new that has been put on the table. Overall though, if you liked the Tomb Raider games and you liked Legend and Anniversary, you will like this game as well.
Pros:
+ Excellent mix of outdoor, underground, and underwater locations
+ Lara’s new moves add to her existing abilities
+ Some excellent level and puzzle design
Cons:
- Existing clipping and camera issues remain
- Forgettable story and cliched dialogue
- Lack of refinement to the core gameplay
