The Golems of Amgarrak is the next stop in the DLC train for Dragon Age: Origins, continuing the story after the events of Awakening. This DLC lets you import your character after Awakening trying to save a dwarven expedition in search of ancient secrets for creating monstrous constructs. All and all you will face undead soldiers and some golems, hitting switches and solving puzzles to lead to the final boss battle with a new creature known as The Harvester. The problem with this DLC though is the fact that it is very hard but also very short. The boss alone is enough to cause frustration and then some. I admit, I had to beat him on easy at first. Overall though, if you want to continue the story and get all of the achievements, you will probably want this DLC.

*Hint for beating The Harvester on Hard: When he spawns his minions, make sure you are in the red tinted world when he has them all coming after you. Then all you have to do is hit the switch next to him to 1 hit kill the mob.*

The final DLC for Borderlands titled Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution continues the story after the original game. The evil Ninja Assassin Claptrap has created an army and it is up to you to stop it. This DLC adds new quests and areas to explore with funny Claptrap propaganda and characters. To anyone that has played the previous DLC’s you will run into robot versions of your favorite bosses like Ned and General Knoxx. You will gather the pieces to shut the Ninja Assassin Claptrap down and the final battleground is where you began, the bus stop. However, there isn’t that many new additions to the series. The enemies seem familiar, the environments aren’t that unique, and the loot doesn’t really add anything to maxed out players. Overall though, this is a solid DLC addition that will add more things to do in the game and tells you how Borderlands ends.

Pros:

+ Amusing pro-Claptrap propaganda

+ Solid amount of new quests and areas

+ Same great gunplay and loot mechanics

Cons:

- One-note humor eventually fizzles

- Many enemies and environments feel too familiar

- Few rewards for maxed-out mercenaries

Dragon Age returns with even more DLC next up with Leliana’s Song. This DLC is a background story for Leliana and the events leading up to how she got to become part of the Chantry. You will spend most of your time roaming around Denerim Market and the Arl’s Estate. This DLC comes with some new partners for the DLC as well as new items, weapons, armor, and achievements. The achievements overall are pretty easy and I actually enjoyed playing this one because I am a sucker for back story. The only complaint I really have with this is the fact that it is very short. I went through everything, listening to everything, making sure all of the quests were complete, and I probably got around an hour of gameplay. Overall though, if you are a fan of the story and you like Dragon Age, I would say give this a shot. It is definitely better than some of the other DLC around.

The latest in Dragon Age DLC titled Darkspawn Chronicles tells the story of an alternate timeline where you died at the Joining. The DLC specifically focuses on the final attack on Denerim as you lay siege as all of the Darkspawn (Genlock, Hurlock, Hurlock Emissary, Hurlock Vanguard, Genlock Sapper, Shriek, Ogre, and Blightwolf.) You will start at the front gate and progress through each section as you would have playing the regular game except this time you are killing all of the good guys, your party members and the NPC allies you conversed with. Eventually you will make your way to the top of the Tower and aiding the Archdemon against Allistair. The DLC clocking in at around an hour – 2 max of gameplay costs 400 points and although that is cheap and there are 3 new achievements, this DLC feels like it could be so much more. The customization of the game is very limited and there is no interaction with the different characters at all. Overall if you want the new achievements and want a taste of being a Darkspawn, check it out.

So I realized that I never did a review on this game even though I swear I did. Maybe I did it in my head…anyways…

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening is the first expansion pack for the Dragon Age game where you can continue the events after Origins. Even if you died in Origins, you end up marching to Amaranthine to find out that there has been a Darkspawn invasion. Wait, didn’t we deal with them? Wait…you can talk?! You find out there is another problem and it is up to you to stop it. You will recruit new friends and see some old ones as well as upgrade your fort to make sure it is ready for the upcoming battle ahead. In this expansion, everything is new. There are new achievements, new weapons, items, abilities, locations, characters, enemies, and the best part, a raised level cap to level 35. The game clocks in at around 20 game hours and it definitely brings you more Dragon Age to people who enjoy the series. However, there are no new romances and although the new characters are as engaging as the original, you will miss the old gang. Also the events in Origins do not impact Awakening as much as you would probably like in the game. Overall though, this is a fun worthy expansion that will expand the story and your adventures being a Grey Warden.

+ Raise the Level Cap to 35

- No New Romances and you will miss the old group

- Past choices aren’t really shown in this DLC
