Pros

+ Fully realized, original setting (it's about time there was a good martial arts RPG)

+ Open-ended role playing involves you in the storyline and fosters replay value

+ Excellent presentation includes beautiful visuals and excellent voice work

+ Lots of optional side quests

Cons

- Combat system is poorly balanced and lacks depth and challenge

- Fairly short by the genre's standards at less than 20 hours

- Shooter minigame is much better in concept than in execution

Jade Empire is a very cool Martial Arts RPG. This game has great audio and graphics, a lot of side quests, an excellent presentation, and an open ended story that makes for replay value. However, the combat system is a little buggy, the game is fairly short and easy, and the shooter mini game isn;t that big of a deal. Overall, this game is very well done, and you will probably play it non stop until you beat it.
