Dead Space 2 Review

Dead Space 2 has arrived and Issac Clarke is ready to kick some necromorph butt. The game starts a few years after the events of Dead Space 1, Clarke has gone insane, and if you played Ignition, you start out right after that game ends. The campaign starts strong and ends strong giving the Dead Space fans a drop into the action and a chance to call yourself a necromorph master. The dismembering of necromorphs are still fun as ever with the many weapons at your disposal and the visuals / audio are a great atmosphere to immerse yourself in the game. There are some new necromorph types to be wary of too that will have you change up your strategy if you run into them. This game also adds multiplayer which is a very fun addition. Imagine Left 4 Dead versus mode. However, some objectives are dull, the single player gets a bit predictable, and there really isn’t that many gameplay advances over the first game. Overall though, this is a fun addition to the series and although it is a bit short (beat the game on normal in about 6 hours), I enjoyed it.

Kinect Adventures Review

Kinect Adventures is one of the first games that you will play with the Kinect hardware since it is bundled with every Kinect purchase. This game contains a bunch of minigames that shows off the hardware and is mainly a party game for a group of friends or family members. The motion controls for the game work well with events ranging from serene to strenuous. When you complete a certain set of events, you get a living statue that you can pose and add a voice over to if you like. However, the game lacks not enough depth or variety to stay interesting over long periods of time and some games require a little extra precision while some don’t really require any. Overall though, if you are interested in the Kinect then you will most likely check this game out.

Halo: Reach Review

Halo: Reach, the final Bungie made Halo game is out and fans of the series will know that this is probably the best one to date. The game takes everything from Halo 3 and ODST and merges it into a big game that will leave fans wanting more. The game has great visuals and music along with every gameplay mode being seamlessly linked together. The campaign mode draws from all the favorite elements from past campaigns and then you add online cooperative play that enhances it even more. The armor abilities also breath new life into the multiplayer giving players more of a strategic advantage over other players. The game also features tons of customization options and an awesome Forge creative tool. The only two problems I noticed with the game though were the friendly AI being still somewhat slow and that you can’t have party members in theater mode with you. Overall though, if you like Halo and you like the campaign, multiplayer, forge mode, theater, or firefight modes then this is the game you need to purchase.

Fable III Review

Fable III is now out and being that I started the Fable series, I might as well see where it goes right? Fable III has you play as the son of your hero from Fable II. You, however, are not the king and your brother is. After a troubling issue that unfolds you are on the run to create a resistance, but is that the only true danger lurking in the world of Albion? This game continues with a strong and varied artistic design, a great musical score, and being consistently funny all through the game. However, there are a lot of small technical problems, shallow combat, and a lack of moral choices until the end of the game. Overall though, the game is fun and continues the consistent Fable world that we have come to know and love. If you like the Fable series then I suggest that you give it a try.

Dragon Age: Origins – Witch Hunt DLC Review

Witch Hunt is the last DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, concluding the storyline until Dragon Age 2. This DLC involves your character hunting for Morrigan (and possibly your child if you went that route). The DLC has new achievements and some of the environments for the game look awesome. The DLC also includes a cool boss fight slowly gaining the trail of Morrigan and eventually running into her for the final confrontation of the game. However, this DLC sucked in my opinion. Morrigan really does not play much of a role in the DLC and nothing is truly revealed in the DLC either. The party members do not really feel like they are characters either, more just throwaways. Overall, if you want to see how it ends, I would recommend getting it; just don’t expect a lot from it.
